SkillExchange Uni

Peer-to-peer campus tutoring exchange where college students trade exam prep and skills for coffee credits.

Target Audience: University undergraduates, graduate teaching assistants, and student study groups
The Headache

Private tutoring costs $45 to $75/hour, which most broke college students cannot afford.

At the same time, thousands of students excel in Organic Chemistry but struggle in Calculus, while others are great at coding but need help with Microeconomics. There is no simple on-campus marketplace to trade knowledge without exchanging money.

The Proposed Fix

SkillExchange connects students on the same campus:

•Campus email verification: Only verified @university.edu students can join each campus network.
•Skill Credit economy: Teach 1 hour of Physics $\rightarrow$ earn 1 Skill Credit (or redeem for a free espresso at campus partner cafes).
•Course-specific matching: Search by exact course code (e.g., MATH 214 or CHEM 102).
Business Model & Pricing

Free for students. Funded through sponsored promotions from local campus cafes, bookstores, and student housing brands.

Trading skills instead of cash removes the financial barrier for struggling students. Partnering with campus coffee shops as the reward mechanism is a genius local incentive.
